Since the “Undercover Boss” episode featuring Coby Brooks, Hooters President and CEO, aired last Sunday, we have received many comments and questions about the employees involved with the show. Let us fill you in:

The manager in question resigned from his duties as an employee of Hooters and has left to pursue other options outside the Hooters system.

Texas Wings is the largest franchisee of Hooters of America and successfully operates 42 Hooters throughout Texas. Hooters of America is confident that the Texas stores are among the best managed and most successful in the Hooters system.

Hooters has a longstanding and highly effective policy protecting employees from all harassment. Hooters of America and Texas Wings are confident the incident portrayed on Undercover Boss is in no way representative of conduct within the Hooters system, which employs over 25,000 people at 460 restaurants in 42 states and 27 countries.

Lewisville store - Butt Candy for Christmas

Upon my return to the States, I desperately needed a dose of what’s good about being an American.  You know what I mean: Burgers, Cold Beer, Sports on big screens and American Girls.   I couldn’t think of a better place and time to achieve sensory overload than Twin Peaks Valentine’s Day dress up week.   I mean, come on, doesn’t a girl in lingerie make ANY food taste better?

During our conversations with our vivacious waitress my buddy and I asked about taking her picture – she was of course ready to pose but said no butt pics.  Upon asking why, she said it is the policy of the restaurant.   Apparently, a patron was almost thrown out by the manager (a new one since my last visit months ago) when he snapped a picture of a young waitress’s behind.   Now, I know from being a long time TP customer, that “butt” pictures are common.  In fact, TP has even posted them on their MySpace pages!    So, here’s to you, Mr. “no butt pics Manager at TP Adisson” – a collage of pictures taken from Twin Peaks MySpace pages.   Enjoy!

It was Hooters CEO Coby Brooks’s turn to go undercover in the “Undercover Boss”. The CBS Network’s reality show “Undercover Boss” that premiered last week and told viewers a thing or two about Waste Management, it was really exciting to go into the world of Hooters, as Coby Brooks left his Corner Office seat for a short time for an entry-leave job in his own organization.

Coby Brooks said it was an opportunity for him, and that he did not know if it is ever going to happen, but fortunately it did. It has been 20 long years since he has been into the field….Coby Brooks was talking to Harry Smith the co-anchor for the “Early Show”.

The show featured Coby Brooks starting his week of Undercover Boss from busboy and went on to the assistant manager’s post and acquired the knowledge of the positives and negative feelings of masses have for Rooters chain.

During this one week Coby Brooks also witnessed a store manager treating the girls without respect, while inspecting the workers everyday in a very uncomfortable fashion.

Coby Brooks said on the CBS Networks’ “Undercover Boss” that he has witnessed some very inappropriate things today and the way that store manager approached the girls was absolutely unacceptable.

Although that store manager was not fired from his job, but it has been reported that he has changed his management style since that day.

Coby Brooks also cleared the Hooters tainted reputation on the “Undercover Boss”, while saying that his company is a woman-friendly place that authorizes women all the time.

The chief executive of Hooters of America Inc. said in a letter to employees that banks and firms are exploring ways to invest in and partner with the Atlanta-based restaurant chain.

Stories in the New York Post last week indicated Hooters might be putting itself up for sale to private equity groups or other financial firms. The restaurant chain is known for its buxom waitresses, orange hot pants and spicy wings.

In a letter to real estate and food industry executives, Brooks acknowledged that the estate of his father, Hooters founder Bob Brooks, is “engaged in the financial market to find the right partner or partners” for Hooters. But he sought to tamp down “rumors” and “speculation” about a pending sale.

Since the death of Bob Brooks nearly four years ago, Hooters has been controlled by his estate. Several personal representatives, including Coby Brooks, oversee the execution of the estate.

The goal now, Coby Brooks wrote, is to meet estate tax obligations and conform to Bob Brooks’ commitments to his beneficiaries. Brooks said those discussions have caused stories to surface about a pending sale.

“Some change is inevitable,” Brooks wrote. “But if you hear rumors about going public, me leaving, etc., they are simply and completely not true. … I want you to know my intentions are to ensure our company has the leadership, capital and cultural strength to grow for another 25 years and beyond.”

The company did not comment when asked by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution to elaborate on the letter.

Sales at the privately held restaurant chain exceed $1 billion, according to industry estimates. The 26-year-old chain has more than 450 locations in 43 states and 26 countries. Sixty-eight percent of its customers are male, mostly between the ages of 25 and 54.

Casual dining chains have been battered by the recession. Hooters and competitors have been hurt by the decline in businessman travel and convention business, said Ron Paul, CEO of research firm Technomic.

“They’re not immune to the downturn in casual dining,” said Paul, who estimated that Hooters’ sales might be down by double-digit percentages. “There’s no reason to believe they are doing better than the competition.”

Lewisville – Sep 19th – Bikini Car wash, 12 pm   This is the store that started it all.  Well worth the car wash experience.

Addison – Sep 17th – 20th – OktoberFest 2009 Addison Event. Watch for special events at associated with this great almost-fall-in-Texas event.

Plano - Sep 20th, Sunday – Bikini Contest, 6 pm.  If you missed the other locations, don’t miss this one.  Get there early – like well before 5 to get a seat.  Cameras are cool it seems.  (not listed on their calendar, but good word has it that it’s on this night).

Austin, Stassney Lane – usual bike nights on Thursday.  UFC fight night as well on the 19th, Saturday.

Austin, Round Rock – bike night Sep 10th, and every Thursday.   These are packed. The entire area around the restaurant is just for bikes with extended outside drinking areas.   Bikini car wash (and bikes too) Sep 19th, noon.

Albuquerque – Bike night every Thursady and Bikini Car wash every Saturday afternoon.

Tusla, Mesquite, Plano and Frisco – calendars are empty or not maintained it seems, so we’ll scout around and find out what special events are happening this month.

In addition, photo shoots have commenced using the waitresses for the upcoming Twin Peaks Pin-Up girl calendar.   It is believed the pin up girl look will be like those classic vintage ones from the 40′s (example below).
