Vanda Purvis (aka Bambi from Twin Peaks scandalous gun photo) is seen here doing a photo shoot for a Twin Peaks promo, and posing for the 2010 Pin Up Girl calendar.    The photo shoot was done at a location in Deep Ellum, Dallas.  Vanda is a real sweetie, full of spunk and personality.

Round Rock Update: Vanda, aka “Bambi”, Appearing on Inside Edition

While attending Bikers Night at Twin Peaks Round Rock on Thursday night, the word from the waitresses was that Vanda has done her Inside Edition TV show interview. No confirmation from Inside Edition, Vanda or Twin Peaks officially yet. Calls to Midland Sherrif’s department to inquire if they were appearing also on the show were not returned.

Stay tuned,

Update – looks she did the interview and it was aired on Sep 1, 2009.   Not much of an interview, but here is what I found:  Inside Edition

Sheriff’s Deputies in Hot Water over Girl with Gun Photo: Twin Peaks Round Rock

Guns and gals should be an OK mix at Round Rock restaurant

Sunday, August 16, 2009

Hats off to those five Midland County sheriff’s deputies for showing their planning-ahead skills.

These are the guys who had the foresight to get their Christmas card photos taken early when they allegedly took pictures of a Twin Peaks waitress holding one of their service rifles in the restaurant parking lot.

In case you aren’t familiar with Twin Peaks, it’s a chain of restaurants similar to a “Northern Exposure” version of Hooters.

I would estimate about 127 percent of its clientele to be male, although I’m not sure who makes up the rest of the customer base.

Instead of skimpy T-shirts decorated with owls, the Twin Peaks waitresses wear eye-popping red- and black-checked logging tops. Oh, she’s a lumberjack, and she’s OK. Twin Peaks’ Web site tells us it’s “Twice As Much Fun As Other Restaurants.”

I went to lunch once at a Twin Peaks in South Austin, and they had a menu, but I don’t recall why. So this deputy thing sounds like a photography issue to me: overexposed, but not underdeveloped.

The Twin Peaks chain is located mostly in Texas. Guns and gals, in Texas? Who’da thunk it?

This Midland deputy flap started around 10 p.m. Monday when some party pooper (or in French, poopier de partie) called Round Rock police to report a woman in the parking lot holding what looked like a rifle.

Why would you call the cops about that? Doesn’t the Second Amendment protect a woman’s right to pack heat for a cheesecake photo?

It doesn’t? Well, dag nab it, it oughta.

And now the Midland deputies could face disorderly conduct charges and have been suspended, pending an investigation.

I think they should give the deputies a plaque. Or the Williamson County chamber of commerce types should get together, form a blue-ribbon committee, pay a consultant for a study (wait, that’s the Austin version), form a panel and build a bronze statue of these deputies and the Twin Peaks waitress depicting this historic rifle event.

Besides, doesn’t this qualify as a gun show?

See, Williamson County faces the bum rap of not being fun. This episode shows otherwise.

Twin Peaks in Round Rock is on Louis Henna Boulevard. Just the name “Louis Henna Boulevard” proves how much fun Williamson County is after dark. You know you’ve reached Disney World status when your streets are named after car dealers.

The bottom line is that it’s another feather in Williamson County’s party cap.

And don’t forget to tip your waitress. Especially if she’ll let you take a photo of her shooting a beer can.
